About Ross Powell
I've been snappin off pictures since I had my first brownie at age nine. Now that I've almost grown up I call them photographs. I firmly believe that if at all possible, a person should in some form chronicle their surroundings or capture their feelings as the years travel on ever more rapidly. Write, paint, photograph, draw, scribble down notes, but do not let your experiences and feelings go unnoticed. These pieces of yourself, no matter what they be, are an extension of you. And share them. Leave them, or give them away to your fellow beings who will think of you, know you better and love you through them long after your head and hand can no longer create on this plane.
That having been said, I can tell you that I also do a bit of pencil and pen and ink drawing and some cartoon silliness. I am also a firm believer in that there is just not enough silliness in this world. The gloom and doom and harshness of the all too real world has to be balanced to help keep us all relatively sane (whatever we may think the definition of "sane" to be at any given moment). Thus I have taken it upon my self to try to infuse a little more silliness into the world. It would be agreed that at times I walk a thin line between silliness and lunacy were you to ask certain friends of mine.
All in all I was put here to do something. Photography is one of my "somethings". I enjoy the heck out of it and consider myself extremely blessed by that which surrounds me every day in the form of my fellow humans, fauna and flora. I will continue to do what I can with what I have been given for as long as I can.
Love the sound of that shutter clicking...
Ross
